Job Title: Freelance Radio Design & Energy Engineer (RAN Network)
(Ericsson, Nokia, RAN, RF, Energy, OSS, 4G, 5G)

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Radio Design & Energy Engineer to join our team on a freelance basis. This role is critical in supporting our efforts to improve energy efficiency across our 4G/5G RAN network infrastructure. The successful candidate will develop, maintain, and optimise energy consumption forecasting models, while providing analytical insights to drive more efficient network operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and update a three-year energy forecast model in alignment with network deployment planning

Produce monthly reports on energy consumption using OSS counters and smart meter data

Analyse discrepancies between actual and forecasted energy usage and identify key influencing factors

Implement enhancements to the energy forecasting model to improve accuracy and reliability

Evaluate additional sources of energy consumption and propose actionable efficiency improvements

Conduct sensitivity analyses related to traffic patterns and radio configuration changes

Support the radio design team with propagation model tool analyses and simulation-based studies

Qualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in radio engineering or radio network design (RAN)

Strong analytical skills and experience with data modelling and analysis

Solid knowledge of RAN systems, including 4G/5G configurations and associated vendor equipment

Experience working with OSS counters and GIS tools

Familiarity with large data sets and ensuring data quality in complex environments
