Senior F5 VELOS & Network Automation Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled Senior F5 VELOS & Network Automation Engineer to support and evolve our enterprise load balancing platform.

This role combines hands-on expertise with F5 VELOS and BIG-IP, operational support, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and continuous service improvement. You'll help maintain highly available production services while driving automation and modern engineering practices across the network estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate & Support
• Manage and support the enterprise F5 VELOS platform.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production incidents.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
• Support major incidents and critical service restoration activities.
• Deliver infrastructure changes, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity.

Engineer & Automate

• Build and maintain automation using Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, REST APIs, YAML, and JSON.
• Automate load balancer provisioning, configuration management, certificate deployment, compliance validation, and operational reporting.
• Promote Infrastructure as Code and reduce manual operational activities.
• Improve platform reliability, consistency, and deployment speed through automation.

Configuration Management & Documentation

• Use NetBox as the source of truth for infrastructure data.
• Ensure production environments remain aligned with CMDB records.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
• Support operational standards, governance, and best practices.

Collaboration

• Work closely with Operations, Architecture, Security, and Development teams.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing across the wider team.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
